Late on Friday, the Congress party announced candidates for three of the total four Lok Sabha constituencies which have been pending.
Chikkaballapur, Ballari and Chamarajanagar are through. But not Kolar.
The Lok Sabha polls will be held in two phases, April 26 and May 7.
Despite strong opposition from local Congress leaders, Raksha Ramaiah, son of former minister and MLA, M.R.Sitaram has been given the ticket from Chikballapur while, Sunil Bose, son of Social Welfare Minister Dr H.C.Mahadevappa got the ticket for Chamarajanagar, and E.Tukaram for the tricky Ballari seat.
The announcement of Raksha Ramaiah has angered the old guard of the party, former deputy speaker Shivashankar Reddy and former CM Veerappa Moily. It was to be seen how the state leaders would contain the possible rebellion within the party. Reddy is expected to join the BJP any day now.
