Congress list out; tickets for kith and kin, shrugs off Pariwarvad charge

1 min read

There were no surprises in the list of the Congress candidates announced for 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka which go to the polls in two phases on April 26 and May 7, with the Congress brazenly pushing back against charges of Pariwarvad by giving tickets to the sons, daughters and kith and kin of several incumbent ministers in the Cabinet of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

It’s the NextGen that have been given the tickets to take on the BJP-JDS alliance candidates.

The Congress hasn't announced the names of the candidates they intend to field in two to three constituencies as discussions are still on within the coterie advising the high command.

But retired IAS officer, Kumar Naik has however been given the ticket from Raichur (ST) constituency and Dr Anjali Nimbalkar, a former MLA from Khanapur and wife of senior IPS officer, Hemanth Nimbalkar, has been given the ticket from Uttara Kannada constituency as has Sagar Khandre, Eshwar Khandre’s son from Bidar.

Apart from this, Minister SS Mallikarjun 's wife Prabha, will stand from Davanagere, and Mallikarjun Kharge’s son in law from Gulbarga.  Ending all  speculation, the ticket for Mysuru-Kodagu seat has been given to KPCC Spokesperson M.Lakshman who had contested and lost in the MLC polls.
